Data Sources

Before starting to build applications in Pistachio, we need to create a data source for the application.
A data source provides information for connecting to the database or file/folder location where your application data resides. We will then model our application based on the tables and views available from the data source.

Creating a data source

To create a data source, simply click on the Data Sources link on the left navigation, and then click Add to add a new Data Source for the application. Give it a name, fill out the appropriate fields and click save.

There are two types of data source:

  • SQL Server - Used to connect to a database. These will be associated with an Application.
  • File Path - Used to store files. These will be associated with Data Models. The File type fields will use the File Path associated with the data model to store the files.
